Medical Assistance

All Kids offers Illinois’ uninsured children comprehensive health care that includes doctor’s visits, hospital stays, prescription drugs, vision care, dental care and medical devices like eyeglasses and asthma inhalers. All Kids On-line enrollment is available, or you can contact your local DHS Family Community Resource Center for more information.

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program helps pregnant women and families with one or more dependent children with temporary cash and other benefits. TANF can help pay for food, shelter, utilities, and expenses other than medical.
  • Aid to the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (AABD) helps those who qualify and need cash assistance.
  • Earnfare helps adults who do not have custody of their children and who receive SNAP (formerly Food Stamps.) They must first work off the value of their SNAP benefits (at minimum wage) and then they can work more hours and earn up to $294 per month.
  • Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) puts cash back in your pocket and will locate help to file your Income Taxes.
  • Early Intervention – Provides services for infants and toddlers under three years of age who may have or be at risk for a developmental delay.
  • Family Case Management – Provides services for pregnant women, infants, and children with high-risk medical conditions.
  • Family Planning – Confidential and voluntary services provide information about birth control methods or help in planning the number and spacing of children, if and when you decide to become pregnant.
  • Healthy Child Care Illinois – Helps childcare providers to improve the health and well-being of children in their care.
  • Newborn Hearing Screening – Information about an important program to identify early hearing loss in infants.
  • School Health – Information for parents, nurses and others interested in keeping Illinois’ school aged children healthy and ready to learn.
  • Women, Infants and Children (WIC) – Provides services to low income Women, Infants and Children through nutrition education, nutritious foods, and access to other health services.
  • Migrant Head Start – A comprehensive program of health, parent involvement, and social services for preschool children of low-income migrant and seasonal farm workers.
  • Refugee & Immigrant Services – can provide health services to low-income immigrants.
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Health Benefits for Workers With Disabilities (HBWD) is Illinois’ Medicaid Buy-In program authorized under the federal Ticket to Work – Work Incentives Improvement Act (TWWIIA).
  • Illinois Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) – A State health insurance program for Illinois residents that are considered high risk.

WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program funded and administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The program provides nutritional health information and benefits for pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age five.

ACP The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) helps qualifying families pay for broadband internet service. The program provides a discount of up to $30 per month on broadband internet service and a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet. .The ACP was launched on January 1, 2022. It is part of the Investment in Infrastructure and Jobs Act which allocated $14.2 billion to the ACP. The program aims to help more Americans access broadband internet service.

Child Safety Seat Program Strives to Protect Children: Child safety seats and boosters are designed to protect infant and child automobile passengers. Sadly, Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13.
